Turmoil on Marrech III

The astropathic choir detects potent psychic signals emitting from the planet. Soon after investigations are begun a genestealer cult reveals itself and manages to sow mutiny among one of the planet's two planetary defense force regiments. An entire hive is taken in a single night of bloodshed. Those imperial citizens that are not slaughtered are enslaved to help prepare the way for what is likely an incoming splinter fleet.

At the same time a Tau diplomatic expedition enters system. Although the Imperium is not openly aggressive at first, when the Tau ship enters high orbit it comes under attack from an Imperial Navy battlegroup that had just resupplied from the planet. The ship is destroyed but most of the Tau manage to escape and land in their pods.

The world's pleas for help are given Primus level priority due to the local existence of an Ecclesiarchal shrine. An Ordo Militant of sisters is sent to aid in the world's defense. A chapter of Space Marines also responds to the call for aid and heads for the system.

The Eldar arrive on planet intending to shut down a webway gate before the conflict gets out of hand. They are attacked however by an Imperial mechanized regiment sent on armed-recon looking for the Tau expeditionary force and the ritual goes awry. The mix of heavy ordnance, extreme violence and the interrupted ritual results in a massive explosion that destroys the webway gate and opens a tear in reality. The webway is sealed but the eldar forces are now assaulted by daemons coming through the growing gateway to the Immaterium. Their far seer is badly injured so the eldar choose to retreat to preserve their dwindling numbers until off-world help can be summoned.

Tyranid forces make planet-fall about the same time as the Space Marines. The conflict grows in scale to all-out war as the two imperial guard regiments fight each other and their fresh allies while the eldar and tau look to their own survival. During the fighting another Space Marine chapter - the Relictors - announces its arrival to help the Imperial forces. They land to help the defense of an Imperial outpost but after the battle quickly move out towards the destroyed webway gate.

Shas’el Ksi’m’yen Mon’raik checks the battlesuit sensors but all the screens are blank , no other escape pod signal is in their range .He start to walk back to the the camp, chosing the easiest path to conserve the battlesuit energy reserves.

The unprovoked Gue’la attack reduced the 454 souls from the ship to just 51, and in this hostile teritory only 25 of these are Shas (him included).

Reaching the camp, Mon’raik decided to ask the Fio’vre if possible to refit some of the available drones as gun drones to boost the fire power of the 24 available Shas’la.

He barely put his hoof out of the battlesuit , when one of the sentinels on top of the escape pod gives the alarm ….

A strange chill wind stir the leaves on the forest.

Hidden on several layers of holofields and shadow fields the Eldar encampment is raising. Quiet vibration had turned the birds into frozen statues with eyes roaring in wonder on the hurried bonesingers work. There are no sings not joy and the mind words were full of sorrow and dispair.

In the center a small tower dominated the clearing. Inside on the central chamber 2 Eldars were mind talking and if any Mon-Keigh on this damned planet could speak it would had sound it like that:

Step quiet, Exarch of the green hunters, this is not the time to point the things we did not do, but to act. How many lost in our retreat?

Too many, i lost half of my bethren allowing to our few tanks to retreat and the ranger squads are still on the field luring the enemies on each other. The wailing sisters are even worse hit. It will be a while until Sheilana could lead a full squad on the battle. Of course only one unscathed are the bird ones and they have much to amend on their part.

How many souls we lost Exarch, not lives for our lives are already forfeit if we do not raise the reinforcements and close the gateway.

In the morning of the second day after the bloody retreat from the warpgate the first Wraithlord flexed its long bone armes and bowed to the Autarch of Geminthal Craftworld.....

The first tempus prayer was disturbed by an Imperial distress signal. Current protocol dictates that such signal are ignored as current missions takes priority especially since there is a Seeker leading the mission. However, the astro-telepaths were able to identity the source of the signal as being Marrech III a known planet hosting an Ecclesiastical Shrine containing grade “Beta” artifacts.

**Communications Room, 2 minutes after the signal was received**
Seeker Meenos: The signal is coming from Marrech. Prepare to for new flight coordinates.
Librarian Ketos: It is unwise to abandon our current mission. The imperials can fend for themselves and other Space Marine chapters will soon rally.
Seeker Meenos: The opportunity is far too great Librarian. The artifacts contained within the ecclesiastical shrine are too valuable to le them fall into enemy hands. It is our duty to…”secure them”
Librarian Ketos: Our current mission was assigned by the Conclave, surely Seeker you do not want to disobey. Plus, the presence of the shrine will ensure swift Inquisitorial response and we don’t want to cross paths again with those short sighted fools, we are being monitored enough as it is. If we attract too much attention we will not be able to further pursue our goals.
Seeker Meenos: My mind is set. We will reassign all ships Marrech III. Contact Captain Lenario, I need all battle brothers ready of insertion as soon as we make planetfall. Keep the cruisers in low orbit, the “extraction” needs to be swift. Avoid enemy and imperial presence as much as possible. The Conclave will be pleased with our “find”…

Canoness Miraya in her black armour and red robes needing guidance for her upcoming mission, to capture a powerfull psycher by the name of Torris Vaun found herself at the shrine which was located in the heart of the Inquisitorial "Black Ship" but sadly her moments of peace and quiet were soon at its end by the hurried footsteps coming from the door. As she turned to face the door one of her Veteran Superiors comes in and says "I beg you're pardon Canoness but we have found a distress signal coming from one of our shrines on a imperial world", Miraya sighed to herself knowing that this would not end well and headed towards the comunications center.

As she arrived she was noticed that she was not the only one who had been summoned, Every high ranking officer on the ship had been called including the an Inquisitor Lord who went by the name of LaHayn, Miraya did not know much about this inquisitor the only thing she knew is that He had a powerful psychic aura about him and that made her uneasy.

The current Astropath starts to relay the message to everyone in the room :

"Sisters! we are in need of your aid! this world has been overrun with Tyranids and we have senced that there might be the taint of Chaos here!, The sacred relics are endangered and must be protected!. We do not know how long we can hold out and our numbers are already small and each day brings us closer to death, Time is running out.
May Katherine watch over us".

The room is silent for quite a few moment while everyone thinks of what is happening on that world...LaHayn makes the 1'st move by saying "we Cannot stop to help them, our mission is of far greater importance than just one little shrine". Canoness Miraya angered by LaHyn's sudden response to not helping her fellow sisters steps forward and says "This shrine is sacred and hold many artifacts that are both powerful and holy to our Militant Order, It may not be left for any psycher//chaos//tyranid scum to be able to take it so easily", She turns to one of her Veteran superiors and notions for her to set a course for World.

LaHayn looks at the Canoness with disgust but for some reason does not try to convince or force her to not change theyre mission and head towards the Imperial world.

High Priestess Akroma lifts up her head after reading the report with a sigh of relief then faces Muldaya and says "This first proper encounter with the tyranid enemy might shed some light on what is happening to the planet at the moment, head to the Tactics center and tell them all you have found out about these monstrosities!".

Muldaya tells the tactician officers about the fact that a lot of flamers and the use of they're heavy weaponry made quick work of the Gaunts but they had quite a hard time taking out the carnifexes due to the lack of ranged firepower.

Shas’el Mon’raik inspected the items list one more time to see if there was anything else that may have gave them a little more fire power. But there was nothing more , together his 30 Shas and 4 Kor‘vesa he will have to hold the line for as much as possible .And the rotaa had started so well ….

Soon after the planet’s star started to light the sky , a Fio’la managed to establish communications with some more survivors , and 3 dec later their group was bolstered by 4 more Shas’la ,a Kor’la and 2 Por’la . But the joy of finding the survivors was soon to be shadowed by the news they brought with them : there were tyranids on the planet .

2 dec later one of the drones reported tyranids coming straight towards them from the same direction as the survivors …

And now they are here , trying to buy time for the rest of the group escape . Mon’raik closed the list displayed on his screen and looked to see the positions of his troops. On the left side of the valley , Shas’ui Ret’la took his men and their 2 Kor’vesa on a ruined building close to the small creak , while in the same time Shas’ui M'Yen and her group took positions near the stone rim on the right side of the valley . Himself and the third La'rua commanded by Shas'ui Doran'b closed the gap in the line between the other 2 La'rua.

No sooner had they taken their positions that the first enemies,a group of creatures with four arms , were spotted by Ret'la and his Lar'ua .They opened fire from the roof of the building making short work of the genestealers,as the Gue'la called them , while Shas'el Monr'aik unleashed his burst cannon and missile pods while he was still in the air to have a better line of fire .

On the right side of the valley M'yen Lar'ua fired upon another group of creatures which had chitin armor upon their back and head , and something that looked like long rage weapons . The creatures seemed to be also split in 3 groups and Mon'raik ordered the teams to concentrate their fire on the two groups that advanced on the left and middle of the valley. The pulse rifles punched trough the chitinous armor of the creatures as it would have been made of paper and the Shas'el started to have hope .

The gaunts line was reduced to half its strength and all of the fire warriors were unharmed . But the creatures moved on without showing any appearance of fear , because behind them came fear itself .

3 creatures the size of a battlesuit with talons as long a full grown fire warrior . And behind them something even larger yielding a whip like weapon in one of the lower arms .

Helped by the marker light of a Shas'ui , Mon'raik unleashed a full salvo upon the body of one of them . But the joy of seeing the large warrior creature fallen to ground was short lived as the gaunts engaged in close combat .

While Ret'la La'rua fought inside the ruined building and Shas'el Mon'raik fought the few assailants in the open field, Doran'b ordered his La'rua to keep firing at the large creatures , their pulse rifles scoring heavy wounds in the places uncovered by thick chitin armor.Meanwhile M'yen and her team tried to destroy the largest group of remaining gaunts that shot their strange weapons grom the cover offered by the wrecks of some unknown vehicle.

The first to fall was Ret'lua La'rua . They had defeated the gaunt attackers with only minor wounds but they stood no chance against the ruthless attack of the Tyranid Tyrant . The chitin maelstrom tore through the building as it was made of paper in what seemed like the blink of an eye . There was no hope of fighting it ..or of escaping its cold rage.

Emerging victorious from the close combat with the gaunts , Mon'raik unleashed its burst cannon against the closest of the Tyranid Warriors. He grinned as the head of the creature disintegrated under power of the weapon fired at almost point blank range , and activated his thrusters to make a leap back trying to put some distance between him and the third warrior .

But he had to held his fire as the creature tore trough Doran'b team. Half of the team was already down but the remaining ones , under the strong leadership of Doran'b , held their ground dying one by one under the ruthless strikes of the beast.

As Mon'raik tried to get a better firing line towards the beast , the last two Shas'la exposed themselves to the beast , but in doing so they allowed Shas'ui Doran'b a final point blank shot in the neck of the beast.

The shadow of the Tyranid Warrior released Doran'b , only to be replaced a larger an darker shadow .....

Near the stone ridge , Shas'ui M'yen lost consciousness under the savage strikes of the gaunts , but as she felt down a burst cannon storm shredded two of the remaining gaunts in pieces .

He was alone , the bodies of the fire warriors were lying all around . But they had done their job , they had delayed the tyranids allowing for the rest of the group to escape . With his targeting systems damaged in combat , Shas'el Mon'raik unleashed all his weapons upon the Tyrant only to see the projectiles bounce off on the thick armor of the creature.

A great talon punched through its jet pack while another hit tore his right armor from the shoulder along with the burst cannon mounted on it.

Bloodied and hard breathing , Mon'raik awaited the hit that would end his life .The hit never came ...

The Tyranid Tyrant froze halfway through the strike and after a moment of apparently sniffing the air , it turned around and left at a quick pace in the direction he came from , followed by the only 3 gaunts that have survived the encounter.
